Some Initiatives that Would Improve Pedestrian Environment  Centerline Sign   Curb Extension Signal Crosswalk Sign     3. Highlights of  Recommendations The Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Task Force was established by the Borough Council to suggest improvements for Fair Lawn Avenue between River Road and Saddle River Road.  The Task Force's recommendations include:     - New Crosswalks at 15 Locations - New Curb Ramps - 5 Feet Wide Sidewalks, Wherever Possible - Street Trees Where Possible and Appropriate - Bicycle Improvements (racks, signs, routes) - More Enforcement of Traffic Laws - Educate motorists and pedestrians - Enhance Lighting - Trim Foliage    Abbott Road  - Ladder striped crosswalks (see picture of crosswalk above) - Two Yield to Pedestrians signs in centerline (see picture of centerline sign above) - New Crossing Warning signs (see picture of sign above) - Curb extensions on Fair Lawn Avenue (see picture of curb extension above)   Radburn Road - Ladder-striped crosswalks (see picture of crosswalk above) - New Crossing Warning signs (see picture of sign above) - Two Yield to Pedestrians signs in centerline (see picture of centerline sign above)     Plaza Road - Imprinted asphalt crosswalks - Review signal timing - New pedestrian count down signal device (see picture of signal above) - Widen pedestrian areas   For more information about the Task Force recommendations, contact Phil Plotch (Chairman of the Task Force) at 703-0926 or njplotch@yahoo.com
