Here
are Instructions for Registering, Navigating and Posting on the Fair
Lawn News Forum (Discussion Space)
It's not as hard as it looks. If you have any
suggestions for improving these instructions, send an e- mail to editor@fairlawnnews.com
These
Instructions Were Updated on October 31, 2001
Registering
You
need to Register, so that you can post messages, set up your preferences,
and help you figure out what messages have been posted since you last
checked.
1.
On the right side of the Fair Lawn News Forum screen, click on 'Register
As New Member'
2.
Enter your name (It could be your first and last name or it could be a
shortened version like 'Barbara H.' or even an alias like 'Ellington Road
Mom')
3.
Type in a password and your e- mail address. Then
hit enter.
4.
Next, you will get an e- mail confirming your new membership. Read the
instructions of the e- mail. You will have to click on words in the e-
mail to confirm your registration.
Navigating
and Posting
On
the Fair Lawn News Forum, you
will see several 'Discussions'. Right now there are three
discussions:
+
Improving Broadway and River Road
+
Fair Lawn General Stuff
+
Just Fair Lawn Government and Politics
2.
You can click on any of these Discussions to read the postings. Or you can
click on the PLUS SIGN (+), to the left of each Discussion. Then you can
go directly to an individual posting within that Discussion.
3.
When
you are inside one of the Discussions, you can type in a box to post a new
message. However,
if
you want to post something in the new Forum, you will need to have
Registered first.
Just
Looking at New Messages
If
you are 'logged in', the new postings are highlighted on each of the
'Discussions'. You just need to click on the NEW buttons to read
the postings you haven't seen yet.
You'll
know if you are logged in by looking on the right side of the Fair Lawn
News Forum screen. It will say ''You are
logged in as your name'. If the screen says 'You are browsing as a
guest', then you can login here. You can also register here if you
already haven't.
