Tips for Using the Forum

Here are Instructions for Registering, Navigating and Posting on the Discussion Forum.  It's not as hard as it looks.

Registering

If you Register, you can post messages, set up your preferences, and easily see the most recent messages.

1. On the right side of the Discussion Forum screen, click on 'Register As New Member'

2. Enter your name (It could be your first and last name or it could be a shortened version like 'Barbara H.' or even an alias like 'Ellington Road Mom')

3. Type in a password and your e- mail address.  Then hit enter.

4. Next, you will get an e- mail confirming your new membership. Read the instructions of the e- mail. You will have to click on words in the e- mail to confirm your registration.

Navigating and Posting

1. On the Discussion Forum, you will see various 'Discussions', including

  + General Discussion

  + Fair Lawn Schools

  + Radburn

+ Improving Broadway and River Road

  + National Issues

  + Local Politics

  + River Road Discussion

  + Broadway Discussion

2. You can click on any of these Discussions to read the postings. Or you can click on the PLUS SIGN (+), to the left of each Discussion. Then you can go directly to an individual posting within that Discussion.

3.  When you are inside one of the Discussions, you can type in a box to post a new message.  However, if you want to post something in the new Forum, you will need to have Registered first.

Just Looking at New Messages

If you are 'logged in', the new postings are highlighted on each of the  'Discussions'. You just need to click on the NEW buttons to read the postings you haven't seen yet.

You'll know if you are logged in by looking on the right side of the Fair Lawn News Forum screen.  It will say ''You are logged in as your name'.  If the screen says  'You are browsing as a guest', then you can login here.  You can also register here if you already haven't.

Navigation Tips

Within a long Discussion, you can click on one of these four choices: 'To Top', 'Previous Messages', 'All Messages' 'Outline'

If you ever want to go back to the page that has a list of all the Discussions, click on 'Fair Lawn Speaks Forum'.
