Hadassah's
Woman of the Year
Fair
Lawn Hadassah will hold their annual Woman of the Year cocktail party on
Saturday evening, April 28, 2001 at The Barnert Temple, 747 Route 208
South in Franklin Lakes. Andrea Pass is being honored as the Fair Lawn Hadassah
Woman of the Year for the 2000-2001 year.
For
a donation of $18 or more, this special evening will include hors
d'oeuvres and refreshments and an original, musical tribute to Ms. Pass,
written and performed by chapter members.
Ms.
Pass is a past president of the Fair Lawn Chapter of Hadassah. On
the chapter level, she also held the Executive Board portfolios of Program
Vice President, Membership Vice President, and Acting Fundraising
Vice-President. In 1993, Ms. Pass founded The Fair Lawn Hadassah
Mother's Connection (later changed to The Young Women's Connection), a
special interest group targeted towards women ages 45 and under. The
Young Women's Connection brought in over 80 new young women to the
chapter.
On
the Region level, Ms. Pass currently sits on the Northern New Jersey
Region of Hadassah Executive Board as the Membership Coordinator. She was
the recipient of Hadassah's National Judith Epstein Young Leadership Award
in 1997 for her Hadassah L.I.F.E. (Leadership, Involvement, Family,
Education) Program.
In
addition, Andrea traveled to Israel with Hadassah as part of a National
Hadassah Young Leaders Mission to Israel in September 1997. Inspired by
her experiences in Israel and in Hadassah, Ms. Pass decided to pursue
becoming an Adult Bat Mitzvah. Her Bat Mitzvah will take place on
Saturday, June 23rd, 2001, at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center.
Andrea
Pass and her husband Scott have two children who
attend Radburn School. A graduate of Fair Lawn High School, Ms. Pass
went on to Glassboro State College and graduated with a BA in
Communications with a concentration in radio, TV, film and Public
Relations. She currently serves as Vice-President for a full-service
public relations firm based in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
Hadassah,
the Women's Zionist Organization of America, is a volunteer women's
organization, whose members are motivated and inspired to strengthen their
partnership with Israel, ensure Jewish continuity, and realize their
potential as a dynamic force in American society. In Israel, Hadassah
supports state of the art medical care and research, education, youth
institutions, and reforestation projects. In the U.S., Hadassah promotes
health education, social action, and advocacy, and Jewish education and
research.
The Fair Lawn Hadassah Chapter promotes education and Zionist
youth programs as well as health awareness. The chapter holds general
meetings and programs every month in addition to book reviews, study
groups, membership and fundraising events. The chapter's next general
meeting, a special Holocaust commemoration program, will take place on
Monday, April 23rd, 2001, at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center. Special guest
speaker will be Max Rubinstein, a survivor of the Kinder Transport to
England.
