Radburn School

There is at least one person in Fair Lawn who loves her job. She is enthusiastic about the kids, the teachers, the parents, and the school. Natalie Lacatena is just gushing.

Ms. Lacatena started as Principal of Radburn School in September.   A couple of months later, she told Fair Lawn News "The parents have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and feel a part of the community. We have a great staff -- they work hard and long; they are so concerned about the children, not just academically, but also about their emotions and social skills. It's only been a few months, but I feel like I've been here forever."

Multi-Purpose Room

The Radburn School's multi-purpose room is used as the cafeteria, the gym, and the auditorium. It is also used for before and after school programs.

Although they try to avoid it, there are scheduling conflicts, such as when a musical program needs to be scheduled the same time as a physical education class.

Ms. Lacatena says that if the school expansion program is approved, Radburn would get a new multi-purpose room, allowing the school to have a cafeteria and kitchen. She said "Radburn School never had a cafeteria. It was built at a time, when all the children went home for lunch. Obviously, with two working parents, there is now a great need to keep the children in school during lunch."

Ms. Lacatena said it would be really nice, for the students to get hot fresh meals.   Also when the weather is bad, they would also be able to play in the gym after lunch, instead of going back to their classrooms.
