Bank Opens

Some businesses move in quietly. Did you notice there's a new pizzeria next to the movie theater?

If you were on River Road on Sunday July 14th, you could not have missed the big splash made by Community Bank of Bergen County celebrating their grand opening.

The bank's new building replaced the old Carvel building on the corner of Hopper Avenue and River Road. (Don't worry, you can still get a Flying Saucer across the street).

The bank celebrated their opening with a free extravaganza – a big tent featuring clowns, face painting, Spiderman, ices, lunch, music, and a raffle.

Peter Michelotti, the bank's Senior Vice President said the bank is working hard to fit in with the community. They had a kosher table at their celebration and they have hired workers who speak Russian, Armenian and Spanish.

Michelotti said that the bank chose to open their third branch in Fair Lawn because the demographics were favorable. He said "it is a great town with a lot of small businesses and everybody seems to know each other. He noted that even though "Fair Lawn is pretty big, it still has a small town feel, because it has several distinct business districts."

Michelotti said the bank held their opening on a Sunday because they wanted to highlight their Sunday hours and because that's when most people have free time.

Asked how he thought the grand opening was going, the bank's CEO, J. Ronald Meier, told Fair Lawn News with a beaming smile "they ate all our food".
