Education Specialist at the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey

want to hold onto precious memories. However, as we grow older we may have
trouble remembering things from time to time. If memory problems are
affecting you or someone you know, come to this free workshop to find out:
how to tell the difference between memory loss associated with normal
aging and signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease; how Alzheimer's
disease is diagnosed; what community programs and resources are available
to people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. This workshop is
free & open to the public.
PAIN
MANAGEMENT
With recent advances in pain management procedures, and in medication
itself, no one needs to live with major discomfort. On Thursday, November
29th, 2001 at 11:00 am the Fair Lawn Senior Center will host Beverly Karas,
RN and Coordinator of Pain Management Services at Valley Hospital to
discuss this controversial topic. The aim is to help individuals with
chronic, debilitating pain for which traditional remedies are not
effective. Discussion will include evaluating behavioral health issues as
well as types of patients. Candidates, from an inpatient perspective
involve individuals undergoing orthopedic surgery, cardiac procedures,
oncology treatments, a hysterectomy and other procedures. Outpatients'
services include those experiencing degenerative changes from osteoporosis
or chronic arthritis, individuals recovering from back surgery, and
individuals who have been injured in a motor vehicle accident or other
form of trauma. As always, these programs are free and open to the public.
