Council Candidate:  Mark Sedaka   1.  Why do you want to be on the council? To contribute back to the town in which I have lived for the past 27 years.  To help make decisions to better our lives and our children’s lives and futures. To present the people’s voice and interest on the Democratic council controlled 5-0 in an open government.   2.  Why do you think you would be a good council member? Leadership and experience Knowledge of infrastructure Awareness of the needs of the residents of Fair Lawn Together with my commitment and the responsibility I will undertake, I am well prepared to serve and accept this challenge to make the difference. I care and I will listen.   3.  What would you like to accomplish in the next four years? Open communications between the residents of Fair Lawn and the governing body. To boost the morale in all departments of the Borough. Control spending and halt tax increases. Deliver the best services your tax $ can buy.   4.   What is your opinion on three issues that are often raised in Fair Lawn News: (a) Broadway, (b) River Road, and (c) traffic/pedestrian safety?   Broadway and River Road:  Beautify the area. Listen to the residents concerns and continue with the committees’ involvement and act on their suggestions.   Traffic and Pedestrian Safety:  Not allow Fair Lawn to become Bergen County’s Parking Lot, increase the penalty for drivers who break the law by not giving the right of way to the pedestrian and enforce the awareness of the Jay Walking issue.   5.  What do you think are the other top issues? Development, Services, Memorial Pool and open communication.     6.  Anything else you would like to say? I have gained much experience living in this town as a single person, married person, family person and grandfather. I have served on many committees and  chairs and have volunteered many hours to society and the community, and I am familiar with the concerns of the residents. I feel that I am well qualified to serve the Fair Lawn community and I am asking for your support.
