Fair Lawn Ambassador

Zachary Stein, a Milnes School kindergartener, has recently been named the March of Dimes Youth Ambassador for Bergen County.

For Bob and Lynn Stein, the joy of giving birth to Zachary 6 ½ years ago was tempered by a serious concern for his health. Zachary was born 5 weeks premature. Those final weeks are most critical in a fetus’s organ development. As a result, Zachary needed treatment in a neonatal intensive care unit.

Zachary is now a happy and healthy kid who loves baseball, music puzzles and reading. While he continues to receive treatment for problems that may have been a result of his premature birth, the Steins knew that his problems could have been much worse.

Bob Stein told Fair Lawn News that “Zachary has brought such joy to our lives and to the lives of everyone he meets. We could not imagine life without him and we are grateful for the March of Dimes for funding advancements that saved his life. Lynn and I know there is still vital work to be done in the field of infant and maternal health. By becoming an ambassador family, we want to touch the lives of others with our story, helping the public understand and support the work of the March of Dimes.”
