Larry
Hochman's Credits
Larry
Hochman has composed music for Disney's "The Little Mermaid
II." He has also composed and arranged music for two episodes
of Spielberg's "Amazing Stories," as well as the TV
documentaries "Views of a Vanishing Frontier" and "Yad
Vashem."
Hochman's
film orchestration credits include "Not for Publication,"
"The Watchman," and "Alaska: Spirit of the Wild" (Omnimax
film). Other films orchestrated by Hochman include "Lady and
the Tramp II," "Aftershock: Earthquake in New York,"
"Dead of Winter," "On the Wing," "The
Ascent," "Braxton," "Ransom of Red Chief,"
"Just in Time" and "Grand Larceny."
Hochman
has over 20 Broadway credits include "Pippin," "Pacific
Overtures," "The Magic Show," "A Class Act" and
orchestrations for "Jane Eyre," "The Gershwins' Fascinating
Rhythm," "Late Nite Comic," and "Barry Manilow's
Copacabana."
He
has contributed orchestrations to "King David" (Alan Menken
& Tim Rice), "The Music Man," "Big" (tour),
"Bye Bye Birdie" (ABC-TV), "Cinderella" (Disney),
"Annie" (Disney), "Geppetto," (Disney),
"Stardust" (tour), "Goya" (CBS Records), and
"Prince of Central Park" (Broadway).
He
has arranged recordings for Mandy Patinkin, Audra McDonald and Dawn Upshaw
(Nonesuch Records) as well as acclaimed pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet's
Reflections on Duke Ellington. (Decca Records).
His
orchestrations for regional shows include "After You Mr. Hyde,"
"1492," "Tales of Tinseltown," "Funny You Don't
Look Like a Grandmother," "Phantom of the Opera" (Ivan
Jacobs), "The Prince and the Pauper," and "Skinflint;"
as well as "Not Tonight Benevenuto" (off Broadway).
Among
his other arrangements are "A Sondheim Medley" (authorized by
Mr. Sondheim), arrangements for Michael Feinstein (Carnegie Hall and
Broadway), Thomas Dolby, Gary Casucci (Carnegie Hall), Andre de Sheild and
many arrangements for Lincoln Center's American Songbook series.
Hochman's
original music is broadcast daily on stations worldwide including AMC,
CNN, HBO, Nickelodeon and Romance Classics, as well as his many TV &
radio commercials co-composed with Larry Gates for their company, Newfound
Music. Other original music for orchestra on CD includes American
Impressions and The Hollywood Project, both for Carlin Music Recorded
Library, and featured works on Millenium Mornings (Cats Paw Records).
Hochman's
original musicals include "One Man Band," produced at Coconut
Grove Playhouse and available on CD, a version of "Phantom of the
Opera," which premiered in 1990 as a national tour, and "Newport
Newport."
His
symphonic poem, "In Memoriam," which premiered in Berlin, was
had its US premiere with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and is available
on CD. Music composed for animation includes the HBO special
"Alexander and the Very Bad Day." His song, "Rising Like
the Sun" was performed at the Opening Ceremony for America's
Millenium in Washington DC.
Larry
Hochman is the recipient of the New Jersey Theater Group 1998 Applause
Award for over 20 years of shows with Pushcart Players.
